Hey there, I’m Sam, the creator of Mumanu. Let me share with you the unique journey behind our brand. I’ve been a professional massage therapist for over 20 years, specializing in pregnancy, labour, and postnatal massage. Seeing the struggles expectant mothers faced with lower back and hip pains, I decided to create a self-inflating pregnancy pillow to provide them with much-needed relief.
INSPIRED IN NEW ZEALAND, MADE IN THE UK
But as time went on, the urgency of the climate emergency became impossible to ignore. I realized that I couldn’t continue making plastic products, so I made a conscious shift towards skincare. Inspired by my time in New Zealand, where I worked for eight years, surrounded by the beauty of nature, I set out to create a range of ethical beauty and wellness products under the Mumanu brand.
TRUE BEAUTY IS ETHICAL BEAUTY
I’ve always been passionate about using organic and Fairtrade ingredients because I believe that true beauty and wellness can only be achieved through natural and ethical means. Whenever I saw a gap in the market for an ethical alternative, I took it upon myself to create a product to fill that void. My own struggle with dry, itchy skin throughout my life fuelled my determination to develop Mumanu balms, which provide lasting relief using natural and ethical ingredients.
CERTIFIED FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND
Mumanu has become more than just a brand—it’s a symbol of integrity, compassion, and environmental consciousness. We’re dedicated to providing the best for our customers while prioritizing sustainability. Each product that bears the Mumanu name is crafted with the utmost care and with a promise to care for both the well-being of the individual and the well-being of the planet.
We’re currently the only cosmetic company in the UK to certify our entire range organic and Fairtrade.
Did you know? There are no laws regulating the term sustainable, organic, natural or fair trade on cosmetic products in the UK. Even if a product is only 1% organic and the rest of the ingredients are synthetic they can still label the product as organic. Always look for a reputable certificate such as COSMOS Organic or the Fairtrade Mark.
A LABOUR OF LOVE
Running Mumanu on my own has been quite the adventure. It’s a labour of love, but it’s also a lot of hard work. Sometimes it feels like I don’t have enough time for my other passions, like nature, swing dancing, photography, and sea kayaking. But the fulfilment I get from seeing the positive impact of Mumanu on the lives of others makes it all worth it.
Through Mumanu, I want to inspire others to embrace the beauty of nature, prioritize sustainability, and find balance in their own lives. It’s a journey that continues to unfold, and I’m excited to see where it takes us. So, join us on this adventure, and let’s embrace the essence of Mumanu—a harmonious blend of compassion, integrity, and a deep respect for the world we call home.
